Your first visit

Would you like to come for the first time? Good. No registration and no prior knowledge are needed. Just come as you are.

Five short answers to the questions almost everyone asks before a first visit: how long, which language, with children, how to get there and what happens afterwards.

Chapter I

Coming and going

The Divine Liturgy lasts several hours. You may arrive at any time or leave early, with no bad conscience at all. Many in the parish do exactly that.

Chapter II

Language

The service is celebrated in Arabic, German, French and Coptic. The sermon is translated into German, and the whole liturgy is projected in several languages. Just ask us, we are glad to explain anything.

Chapter III

Children and families

Children naturally belong here. Nobody minds if it gets a little livelier now and then. There is no separate room to retreat to with a crying child, and nobody expects one.

Chapter IV

Getting here and parking

We celebrate at St Maria church, Juravorstadt 47, Biel/Bienne. By bus: line 1 from Biel/Bienne station to the Juravorstadt stop, right in front of the church. On foot it is about 18 to 20 minutes from the station.

By car you will find parking in the blue zone in the surrounding streets.

Chapter V

Staying afterwards

After the service we eat together, the agape. You are warmly invited to get to know the parish at your own pace. It is the best moment to ask questions.
